This month we have guest speaker Mike Dempsey, who is a former President of the Friends. Mike will be speaking on:

The Moons of Jupiter and Saturn (with emphasis on human compatibility)

Place: Southern Cayuga HS Library (enter through the Elementary Door by the Parking Lot)

2384 State Route 34B Poplar Ridge NY

Date & Time: August 15th at 7:00 PM

Presented by the Friends of the SCCS Planetarium

In the month of Aug is the Planetary Alignment. If you look above the moon you will see 2 bright stars that are Saturn to the west and Jupiter to the east. Using those two you will see Mars, then Venus (brightest of them all) and next is Mercury. Note Stars twinkle and Planets do not.

The Perseid Meteor shower peaks on August 12-13.

For School monthly community programs - see the Southern Cayuga Central School website.

Special programs outside of regular school hours are presented by Friends of the Planetarium and may be requested on this website.
